Cyclades Flklorist, Benetos Skiadas, was born on 1943 at Aliki Paros. He was raised with privation in a large family. That fact forced him early to work for a living. When he was 11 years old he was working with him uncle who owned a fishing boat. The need of surviving did not le him study, but as he was clever, laborious and willing to learn, he tried a lot of professions as a quarrier, mariner, selftaught shipbuilder, ironworker and at the end, professional fisherman.
This man was born with the gifts of observation, conception and creative power. The motive power, which was turning the gears of his soul, was the love and devotion at his wife Popi. With her he's got a daughter, Katerina who gave them two grandchildren, Beneto and Nicola. This family lives with tree basic values: FREEDOM, JUSTICE, TRUTH.
Through these words, originates their love and respect for the preservation of the Cyclades tradition, which are expressed strongly in the art of the fisherman artist with authentic details and original gennuinity.
But his passion for tradition was growing day after day. The wanted to keep alive the memories that raised him on the island and time has destoyed. With a lot of work, sacrifice, pain, love and strong desere, with him wife Popi, they revive Cyclades tradition. As the artist says:
" We were not made who we are with laser. We became like that with our mother's loom and our father's hoe"
He has participade in exhibitions. During the nautical weeks he was given the first price for boat models. This workshop is humble and lands the life of nature.
